Department Profile

The fast-paced growth in importance and contribution of commerce and trade to today's national and world economies is surpassed only by the ever widening gap between the human resource needs of the industry and the available numbers of properly trained, well informed qualified and competent people. Added to this mix is the reality that all sectors of the economy are now heavily biased towards and to a large extent dependent upon computer-based technologies.

It is from this stand point that the Department of Business Studies of Ibenga Girls' Secondary School has strategically placed itself to be among the notable training institutions in producing students with relevant business and computer skills.

The department not only makes the students ready to pass both Zambian examinations and foreign (overseas) examinations at 'O' levels, but also trains them to acquire the relevant entrepreneurial and technological skills needed for them to be self-sufficient.

The department offers the following programmes:

• 1. Computer studies/ICT (2 years for Junior secondary school)
• 2. Business studies (2 years for Junior secondary school)
• 3. Commerce (3 years for Senior secondary school)
• 4. Principles of Accounts (3 years for Senior secondary school)
